What is a CPC & why do I need one?

Applicants for a Goods Vehicle Operator's Licence must show that they are 'professionally competent' or that they employ a transport manager who meets the requirements. Persons will be considered 'professionally competent' by passing the examination for the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) conducted by OCR Examinations on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT).

RHA Training CPC course details

RHA Training - CPC courses are held at six locations Bradford, Peterborough, West Midlands Reading  Perth & Northern Ireland

International Freight CPC held at Peterborough & Bradford

The CPC courses held provide CPC Modular Training 2-3 days a week over a duration of 4 weeks, including an extended preparation day for exam Unit R2

PLEASE NOTE THAT ENTRIES FOR EXAMINATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LESS THAN 21 DAYS BEFORE THE EXAM DATE (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY).

Are there other ways I can study for a CPC?

If you are unable to attend one of our training courses, then you can purchase CPC for Transport Managers (Road Haulage) and International Freight Home Study materials.

When do exams take place?

The CPC exams take place four times each year, always on Fridays in December, March, June & September

Exams take place at the same training venue at Peterborough, Bradford, West Midlands, Reading Perth & Northern Ireland.

After the exam.

Full CPC certificates will be issued on passing all units. Individual unit certificates will be issued if not successful in all examinations, which will be exchanged for a full certificate on passing the outstanding unit examinations.

Please allow 8 weeks for results to be received after the exam date.
